Description: Join us for our next Tots in Tents camping weekend at Lake Norman State Park! This two night camping event is specifically designed for families with at least one child age 0-6 (older siblings welcome) and is perfect for beginners and seasoned campers alike. Our objective is to support families in expanding their experiences in nature.

Families begin arriving at 3:00pm
Set up tents and gear
Eat dinner (BYO) communally
Campfire, stories, hot chocolate, marshmallows (provided)
Evening adult-only campfire
Saturday
Grab-and-go breakfast (provided)
Group activity (example: guided hike, beach/swim, visit to the visitor center museum)
Families eat lunch at various times based on their schedule

Free play at the campsite with outdoor toys and books (provided)
Eat dinner (BYO) communally

Families begin packing up

A-la-carte breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings including muffins/bagels, fresh fruits, granola bars, yogurt/fruit pouches, etc.
Paper towels, hand sanitizer, and a communal handwashing basin of soapy water
Instant coffee and hot chocolate packets
Marshmallows for roasting Friday and Saturday evenings
All firewood, kindling, and tools needed for morning and evening campfires
“Mobile mud kitchen” complete with bowls, cups, whisks, scoopers, pie tins, and more.
Additional outdoor toys including plastic animals, balls, etc.
Board books and picture books to borrow and use throughout the weekend for bedtime, quiet time in the tent, communal reading around the fire, etc.

Cooking supplies: A way to cook your foods as needed, cooler/ice, plates and utensils, reusable mugs for coffee/hot chocolate, reusable water bottles, etc
Carrier for hiking (recommended)
Portable battery pack (recommended for charging phones, sound machines, etc)
Portable sound machine (recommended)
Equitable pricing: We participate in equitable pricing with accessible, sustainable, and equitable rates for families to pick from. Equitable rates are for people who have greater access to financial resources. This rate helps redistribute wealth to the community by supporting accessible access rates, covering long term operation costs, and ensuring Parenting Off The Beaten Path facilitators are compensated for their time and expertise. "Sustainable" rates cover the basic costs of the event or class. "Accessible" rates are for people who have less access to financial resources.
Equitable pricing is rooted in trust and compassion between facilitators, families, and the community at large. We encourage families to honor their own financial health, which no one else can accurately measure.
